Building capabilities at the interface of policy, evidence and practice
Evidence to Policy Masterclasses
Our Masterclasses are designed for both government and university colleagues. For researchers and university professional staff, ‘Engaging with and Influencing Government’ aims to develop a deeper understanding of policymaking and the proficiency to engage in policy processes, thereby maximising research impact. For government colleagues, these Masterclasses address timely issues relevant to policy teams. From how the state and federal budgets impact their policy portfolio, to key considerations in government such as AI and Automated Decision-making, these build skills and knowledge in areas that government policy teams increasingly face.
Policy Capability Clinics
APPI’s Capability Clinics offer multi-week, in-person workshops for capability development. Grounded in live issues to ensure practical, hands-on upskilling, they can be delivered on a timely, real-world policy or research translation output. These clinics are delivered by experts and practitioners who bring a depth of practical experience and cross-sectoral perspectives.
ECR Policy Engagement Training Program
The APPI Early Career Researcher (ECR) Policy Engagement Training Program is a five-part series for Early Career Researchers at APPI’s partner universities. It introduces how government and policymaking work in Australia, and how academic research can inform policy development. The program builds practical skills in policy engagement, communication and identifying opportunities for research to influence public policy.
